UGC 4305 is classified as Ibm (irregular, barred, magellanic) and is undergoing almost continuous star burst activity.  This galaxy contains an intense x-ray point source and is one of the brightest x-ray sources known.  Studies by Zezas, et.al.(1999), using the Rosat observatory were inconclusive as to the origin of the source, the best fit being either a binary x-ray source or a black hole candidate source.  The source is located in the loop of material at the bottom of the image.

Distance is 11 Mly.
