NGC 474 at lower center is classified SO-R and
as a "shell" galaxy, distance is 91 Mly.
NGC 470 at upper center is classified SB-R.
NGC 474 - 470 are currently undergoing an
interaction. A tail of gas connects the spiral (NGC 470) with the gas poor
lenticular galaxy (NGC 474). HAlpha emissions indicate a secondary
accretion in the core of NGC 474.
Note the two shells at 1 o'clock and 6 o'clock associated with NGC 474, these shells may be due to the secondary accertion in NGC 470. (Rampazzo 2006)
