NGC 5033 is a classified as Sc but recent investigation of nuclear gas flows indicate the possible presence of a weak bar.  NGC 5033 is a Seyfert galaxy and the home of a type IIb supernova in 2001.

Surface brightness of this extended galaxy is listed as 13.7 magnitude.
