NGC 2681 is a multi-barred LINEAR galaxy with an active super massive black hole.  NGC 2681 likely underwent an intense period of starburst activity some 1Gyr years ago (Cappellari, et. al. 2001)

NGC 2681 is classified SBO/a.  Distance estimates place the galaxy at approximately 56 Mlyr.
