NGC 2276 is a star burst galaxy with a luminous x-ray source near the western edge indicative of a high mass black hole (Davis, et.al. 2004).  The galaxy is also being stripped of gas by motion through the inter-galactic medium further compressing the western edge (Rasmussen, et.al. 2006).

NGC 2276 is classified as Sbc-R.

NGC 2300 is the SBo type galaxy to the lower right.
