M100 (NGC 4321)    

in Coma Berenices

M100 at magnitude 9.3 is one of the brightest galaxy in the group known as the Virgo Cluster of galaxies.

M100 is classified as a spiral galaxy and is very similar to what our galaxy would look like if we could view it from above.

Note the neighbor galaxies in this image, the edge on galaxy is NGC 4312 and the two fainter galaxies at the 12 and 3 o'clock positions are NGC 4328 and NGC 4323.  There are many other faint galaxies visible.
